CABT in Candid Camera! The CABT Administration, Staff, and Faculty in their "formally wacky" moment. |
... A month ago today, I stepped into the hallowed purple and gray halls of the Centennial Academy of the Blessed Trinity as their new Mathematics teacher.
With the sudden turn of events that led me to leave my former company and go back home in Rosario for good, and with a little over a week to prepare for the job physically, mentally, and psychologically, I saw myself on that day teaching grade 5 pupils and high school students. I also saw myself with a company of teachers who are mostly younger than me, and with many of them with experience in teaching and have been with the company of our principal Mrs. Maclang.
It was a month of challenge as a first time high school teacher. It was a feat handling five Math classes a day for five days (well, it's normal for a school such as CABT); preparing five lesson plans a week and five long tests for next week (for someone who don't have an experience doing so); being the an adviser of a section (thank goodness they are just 10 of them), having to handle and huddle students for practice in the activities (from the willing and able to the stubborn and indifferent), and having to adjust to the personalities of everyone in the school, especially the students.
But despite the challenge and adjustments, I found myself liking the job. I have somehow learned the ropes of being a high school (plus a grade 5) teacher in CABT so I will do some more fine tuning for me to be in sync with the school's system. I am also very happy and amused to work with such group of administrators, personnel, and teachers. It was also some sort of an "nostalgic" job, reliving my memories of my high school days. And finally, it has fulfilled my yearning to teach again.
I would like to thank Mrs. Aurora Maclang, Miss Christine CampaƱa-Go, and Sir Raymond Antonio Go for their trust and confidence in hiring me - and keeping that trust and confidence until now; to Miss Jill, Sir Dhens, and Miss Nurse, for the support and guidance; a special mention to my batch mate Michelle for introducing me to the school; and finally to all my co-teachers, who gave their guidance, advice, and answers to my queries, and who never cease to make me smile and laugh - you really ROCK!
With that, I just remembered what Mrs. Maclang told me after a meeting:
"Do your best, feel at home, and don't leave CABT."
Ma'am, I will - DEFINITELY :)
